Beyond the Badge: Meet Sergeant Shane Mitchell


Shane Mitchell was born and raised in Klamath Falls. He graduated from Henley High School and attended Oregon Institute of Technology. Shane is an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes and he and his wife, Kaci, raised their two daughters in Klamath and now get to enjoy watching their three grandchildren who are involved in various activities throughout the County. Shane and Kaci’s daughter and son-in-law own a successful organic hay farm in the Klamath Basin.

Shane prides himself on keeping Klamath County a safe place for his family and friends to call home. He has proudly served and protected citizens of Klamath County for over 20 years and is eager to take on this new journey to continue serving Klamath County and protecting the safety of it’s Citizens.

  • Hired by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office in June 2000, Shane began his career as a Reserve Deputy. He became a full-time Patrol Deputy in August of 2001 and promoted to Sergeant March of 2019 serving as the Klamath Community College (KCC) SRO/Liaison.

    Shane was instrumental in bringing the DPSST Southwestern Oregon Advanced Law Enforcement Regional Training Coordinator to Klamath Falls where he is now housed at the Klamath County Sheriff’s Substation at KCC. This collaboration not only provides additional training opportunities for both local officers and agencies across the state but it has also saved the county thousands of dollars in travel cost for out of area training and has generated state funds for KCC.
